The Map on the left was produced by FOSI
designers for the Fort Smith Museum in Arkansas. Using research and
historical data supplied the museum we developed this image which showed
the Eastern Native American Nations that existed in the early years of the
US. Produced as an
Inkjet print with a protective matte laminate, the final product was
mounted onto a composite substrate and ready for the installation of fiber
optic light guides. |
|
On the right is a very simple yet
effective fiber optic map. The background map image of roads, rivers and
town names are silk screened onto Formica style laminate. Computer
cut vinyl can be used with the same effect.
The dark background enhances the
brilliance of the fiber optic troop movements and battle effects. |

This superb map segment is a combined
production of FOSI and a third party map specialist.
The client wanted a 3D look to their
exhibit but could not afford the cost of a topographic model. Using
top of the line map making software, detailed topographic features are
easily depicted.
Here you are looking at a relatively
low resolution image. You can imagine what the full size inkjet
output looked like. Spectacular! |
Whether using a 2D map or a topographic
model, nothing enhances the experience for the viewer better than the
combination of
fiber optics and audio narration.
Troop movements, battle emplacements,
gunfire and explosions all can be utilized to make the presentation
exciting and informative.
